Indiana ranked No. 13 in updated CBS Sports Top 25 and 1 – Inside the Hall

Preseason rankings for the 2022-23 college basketball season continue to roll out.

The latest notable preseason rankings to be released? The CBS Sports preseason Top 25 and 1. Longtime college basketball scribe Gary Parrish updated his rankings for the 18th time this offseason and moved Indiana up four spots.

The Hoosiers are No. 13 and the highest ranked Big Ten team. Here’s what Parrish wrote about the Hoosiers:

The Hoosiers are returning the top three scorers from a team that made the NCAA Tournament – among them Trayce Jackson-Davis, who could be a candidate for Big Ten Player of the Year. Indiana’s top-10 recruiting class is highlighted by five-star prospect Jalen Hood-Schifino, an elite combo guard who should help Indiana compete for its first Big Ten title since 2016.

Howard swim team, in historic meet, elevates Black profile in the sport

Among the first indications something special was happening at Howard were DC police vehicles, lights flashing, blocking a handful of side streets along a stretch of Georgia Avenue in Northwest where the university’s athletic facilities are located.

Inside Burr Gymnasium, henceforth, thumping beats reverberated over the sound system as students, parents, alumni and Bison supporters milled about in the corridors while other patrons patiently but eagerly waited in line to have their tickets scanned.

The draw on a soggy and overcast afternoon was a swim meet against crosstown rival Georgetown billed as the Battle at the Burr, where an announced crowd of 2,000-plus packed the seating area above the pool for the sold-out event organizers indicated was the most attended aquatics competition in school history.

A heavyweight battle in the SEC West headlines on Saturday as No. 2 Alabama hits the road to take on No. 20 Arkansas on the SEC on CBS Game of the Week. The Crimson Tide roll in to Fayetteville, Arkansas, with a record of 4-0 and are coming off of two easy victories; the Tide took down Vanderbilt 55-3 last week after beating ULM 63-7 the week before. Those results looked a lot different than the one from Week 2 when Alabama narrowly avoided an upset in a road game against Texas.

Arkansas wasn’t as lucky last week. The Razorbacks have spent all week trying to shake the image of Cam Little’s 42-yard field goal attempt bouncing off the top of the upright instead of going through with 90 seconds left in the game. Virginia Football Lands Commitment From Safety Trent Baker-Booker

It wasn’t all bad news for the UVA football program this weekend. Virginia picked up a 2023 recruiting commitment from Indianapolis safety Trent Baker-Booker late on Saturday night.

While Virginia’s trip to Durham this weekend was hardly a success, the Cavaliers can at the very least appreciate a much-needed victory on the recruiting trail. Last weekend, a loss at Syracuse was worsened by the decommitment of defensive lineman Rodney Lora. This time around, some news on the recruiting front might serve to take away the sting of the loss as the Hoos land a commitment from a talented and athletic defensive back.

At 6’3″, Baker-Booker has the height and athleticism to defend against big and physical receivers. He has shown tremendous playmaking abilities and ball skills through the first half of his senior season at Lawrence Central, the same Indianapolis high school that produced UVA basketball legend Kyle Guy.
